Portuguese Camino
From Porto to Santiago

7 days/6 nights

Itinerary

DAY 1: Arrival in Porto

Make your way to Porto. Accommodation in Porto, breakfast included *.

DAY 2: Porto to Barcelos (55 Km) (Total 55 Km)

You start your Portuguese Camino from the beautiful city of Porto. You can get your credential if you make a short visit to the Sé Catedral. In Portugal many streets are paved with cobblestones, which makes the route harder for the cyclist, but only on this first stretch as we cross the city from Porto to Barcelos.

DAY 3: Barcelos to Ponte de Lima (34,5 Km) (Total 98.5 Km)

The Portuguese city of Barcelos is famous for its legend of the cockerel of Barcelos, and symbol of Portugal. This stage is not difficult as it is a short one, since it is worth visiting Ponte de Lima, the oldest city in Portugal, considered a World Heritage Site.

DAY 4: Ponte de Lima to Tui (41.5 Km) (Total 131 Km)

You leave the town behind you by crossing the bridge over the river Lima, which gives its name to the city. On this leg you will pass through forests, so you will have to follow the yellow arrows as you did before, although this part of the stage is tough, the surroundings are spectacular. You enter the city of Tui by the bridge over the river Minho, which is the border between Spain and Portugal.

DAY 5: Tui to Pontevedra (51 Km) (Total 182 Km)

At this stage there is no alternative route to Santiago for bicycles, we will have to share the same route as the pilgrims walking. You will pass through several towns, but the most characteristic and where you can find all the facilities you may need are Porriño and Redondela. Once you arrive in Redondela there are only eighteen kilometres between you and Pontevedra.

DAY 6: Pontevedra to Santiago de Compostela (66 Km) (Total 248 Km)

In Pontevedra you can visit the famous Pilgrim’s Church, whose floor is shaped like the characteristic scallop carried by most pilgrims. These final sixty-six kilometres will be your last effort to reach the pilgrim’s capital. This last stage is divided into two parts, the first stage takes you almost effortlessly to the town of Teo in La Coruña and the second, more strenuous, to the Cathedral. Once in Santiago you will feel the famous pilgrim’s sense of achievement.
