Visit some emblematic places on the Costa

Mijas Pueblo still conserves some of its olde worlde charm. A white village nestled into the mountains with spectacular views of the surrounding area. While some may be tempted to ogle the yachts and boats in Banús, I’d say the Saturday market is well worth a visit. Finish off the day strolling around the old quarter of Marbella.

This tour starts in one of the most famous white villages of Andalusia, Mijas, with its narrow streets and whitewashed houses decorated with colourful flower pots. Located in the hills of the Mijas Mountains and famous for its “donkey taxis“.

We’ll make a pit stop at a local restaurant for a drink and leave you an hour and a half to enjoy the village at your leisure. Next to the tourist office you’ll find the famous bronze donkey statuethe Hermitage of the Virgen de la Peña; the Mirador del Compás; Mijas bullring, considered one of the most original in Spain because of its curious oval shape. It is also one of the smallest in the world. Mijas Fortress, its walls and its gardens with impressive viewpoints that let you see Mijas from the heights. The Church of the Immaculate Conception are all places you should try to visit along with  some of the most beautiful streets and squares, such as the photogenic Calle San Sebastian next to the Plaza de la Libertad and the popular Plaza de la Constitución.

Our next stop is Puerto Banús, a luxury marina, one of the most visited tourist enclaves on the Costa del Sol. Remember, Saturday is Market Day and this is a good place for some shabby chic shopping! You will have an hour and 15 minutes free time to tour Puerto Banús at your own pace to spot luxurious yachts, cars and restaurants, or do a shabby chic shop.

Alternatively, you can visit the walk of the stars on Avenida José Banús. Stroll along Antonio Banderas Square and Julio Iglesias Avenue as well as Puerto Banús promenade.

Our next and final stop is the Golden Mile in Marbella where you will have 2 hours at your leisure, explore the Avenida del Mar which connects Alameda Park with the Promenade, and enjoy the bronze sculptures designed by Salvador Dalí that make it look like a small open-air museum. Visit Los Naranjos Square and all the Old Town. Make time to have to have lunch. Don’t forget to visit the Calle Ancha, the old city wall and the Church of Santa María de la Encarnación.

Organising your trip needs time and care to make sure everything goes smoothly. The more time you can give me  to organise whatever you require: flights, transfers, golf courses, green fees, tee times, a day trip for the days you don’t play golf, a fishing trip, a visit to one of the major cities in Andalusia, especially if you would like to visit the Alhambra in Granada. The waiting list for tickets to see the whole complex is long. And, when they’re gone, they’re gone!
