DAY 1. PLACE OF ORIGIN – SALAMANCA: Departure from our place of origin at the indicated time. Short stops en route. Lunch at the clients’ own expense. Arrival at the hotel, dinner and accommodation.
DAY 2. SALAMANCA – ZAMORA: Morning visit to Salamanca with official guide. Its unmistakable profile overlooking the Tormes River with the towers and apses of its two Cathedrals submerges you in an atmosphere of art, history and tradition. Some of the most spectacular buildings, the Casa de las Conchas, the University, the Clerecía, the Palacio de Monterrey, are arranged around the impressive Plaza Mayor. Return to the hotel for lunch. Afternoon visit to Zamora with official guide, called ‘the well fenced city’ because of the importance of its three lines of walls. Its old town is home to some twenty Romanesque churches presided over by the Cathedral (12th century), known as ‘La Perla’ (The Pearl) to which an exotic Gothic dome lends a Byzantine air. Return to the hotel, dinner and overnight.
DAY 3. LA ALBERCA – CIUDAD RODRIGO: Morning visit to La Alberca where we will see the Plaza Mayor, the old prison, the church, and the theatre. Return to the hotel for lunch. In the afternoon visit to Ciudad Rodrigo, dominated by the tower of the Alcazar, today a Parador. The cathedral, which was started in 1170, was the place of work of some of the great masters such as Rodrigo Gil de Hontañón, Rodrigo Alemán and Lucas Mitata among others. The main square has two important Renaissance palaces. Return to the hotel, dinner and accommodation.
DAY 4. PEÑARANDA DE BRACAMONTE – ALBA DE TORMES: Morning departure to Peñaranda de Bracamonte, only 40 kilometres from Salamanca. It stands out for its three arcaded squares of genuine Castilian architecture. Its old quarter has been declared an Asset of Cultural Interest. Return to the hotel for lunch. Afternoon visit to Alba de Tormes, villa of the Dukes of Alba. In Alba de Tormes lie the remains of Saint Teresa de Jesús, in the Carmelite convent that the saint founded eleven years before her death. Return to the hotel, dinner and accommodation.
DAY 5. BÉJAR- CANDELARIO – GUIJUELO: Morning visit to Béjar, at the foot of the mountain range of the same name. Today it is the main town in the south of the province of Salamanca. Candelario, one of the most beautiful villages in the province of Cáceres has preserved the popular architecture of the area to this day, with stone facades and balconies. You will visit Guijuelo famous for its hams. Return to the hotel for lunch. Free afternoon.
DAY 6. SALAMANCA – PLACE OF ORIGIN: Breakfast and early departure to the place of origin, brief stops en route, lunch at your own expense, arrival, end of the trip and of our services.
