Itinerary

Day 1: Madrid – Bangkok · Your Classic Thailand Tour Begins

Meet at the airport. Check-in formalities and boarding on the direct scheduled Iberojet flight to Bangkok. Overnight on board.

Day 2: Arrival in Bangkok

Arrival in Bangkok and transfer with assistance from the international airport to the hotel. Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight stay.

Day 3: Bangkok – Floating Market & Train Market – Ayutthaya

Breakfast. We begin the day with a visit to Maeklong, the famous railway market on the outskirts of Bangkok. The train passes through around eight times a day, prompting vendors to pull back their goods at the sound of the warning horn.

Continue to the lively Damnoen Saduak floating market, where hundreds of wooden boats sell fresh flowers, fruit, vegetables, drinks and more — all sourced from the fertile surrounding land. Along the way, admire the traditional Thai houses and their distinctive way of life. Lunch at a local restaurant. We then head towards the former capital, Ayutthaya. Evening at the hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 4: Ayutthaya – Ang Thong – Phitsanulok

Breakfast. Today’s visit begins at the extraordinary archaeological park of Ayutthaya, capital of the kingdom from 1371 to around 1700 before becoming the Kingdom of Siam. We visit key temples including Wat Chaiwathanaram and Wat Yai Chaimongkhon. Lunch at a local restaurant.

In the afternoon, depart for Ang Thong to visit the Great Buddha of Thailand — “Phra Buda Maha Nawamin” — the tallest statue in the country and the ninth tallest in the world. Standing 92 metres high and 63 metres wide, it is located at Wat Muang monastery. Continue to Phitsanulok, a provincial capital ideal for lovers of natural beauty. Overnight stay.

Day 5: Phitsanulok – Sukhothai – Chiang Rai

Breakfast at the hotel and departure to visit the most sacred temple in Phitsanulok: Wat Phra Sri Ratana Maha That, known locally as “Wat Yai”, home to a revered golden Buddha image. Continue to the Historical Park of Sukhothai, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and considered the first Thai kingdom (13th century). Enjoy a gentle bicycle ride through the flat gardens, ruins and lakes, including the impressive White Buddha of Wat Sri Chum.

In the afternoon, continue to Chiang Rai with a stop at the scenic Phayao Lake in the Ing River valley. Lunch at a local restaurant. Overnight stay.

Note: Travellers who prefer not to cycle may use a golf cart on site for an additional local charge.

Day 6: Chiang Rai – Golden Triangle – Chiang Mai

Breakfast. Visit Wat Rong Khun, the famous White Temple created by artist Chalermchai Kositpipat in 1997. Continue to Wat Rong Suea Ten, the Blue Temple — a striking modern sanctuary decorated in vivid blue, yellow and white tones with impressive Buddha statues.

Mid-morning, travel to the Golden Triangle, where Thailand, Laos and Myanmar meet. From a hilltop viewpoint, enjoy panoramic views of the Mekong and Ruak rivers marking the tri-border. Visit the Opium House. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Continue by road from Chiang Rai to Chiang Mai (approx. 3 hours). In the afternoon, visit the city’s most iconic temple, Wat Doi Suthep, situated on a hilltop overlooking Chiang Mai. In the late afternoon you may hear the monks’ chants. Transfer and check-in at the hotel. Overnight stay.

Note: Depending on arrival time in Chiang Mai, the visit to Wat Doi Suthep may take place the following morning.

Day 7: Chiang Mai – Elephant Sanctuary – Chiang Mai

Breakfast. Due to the past exploitation of elephants, ethical “elephant sanctuaries” have been created to ensure proper welfare and conservation. Travel through scenic landscapes to an eco-sustainable project where you will learn about the elephants’ individual stories and help feed them under staff supervision.

Continue to an orchid plantation — an important part of Thai culture — featuring a butterfly garden with rare species. Lunch is served at the plantation. Afterwards, visit the traditional craft centres of Sankampaeng and Borsang, known for wood carving, hand-painted umbrellas, woven silk, silverwork, ceramics, lacquerware and more. Return to the hotel. Overnight stay.

Day 8: Chiang Mai – Bangkok

Breakfast at the hotel. Transfer to the airport for the flight to Bangkok. Arrival in Bangkok, transfer to the hotel and overnight stay.

Day 9: Bangkok – Madrid

Breakfast. At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport for the Iberojet flight back to Spain. End of services.

Summer Departures of the Classic Thailand Tour

This tour operates with Thursday departures from December until 25 June.

From that date onwards, departures run on both Thursdays and Sundays until the last Sunday of August.

Operations beyond August are not yet confirmed, so these dates should be considered the currently guaranteed schedule.
